Eagle Pass fell to Medina Valley back in September 2024, and Friday night brought the same outcome. The Eagles dropped a 47-38 battle to the Panthers, despite racking up 104 more yards of total offense. In the end, it was Medina Valley who turned their chances into points.
Quarterback Xavier Barrera wasn’t to blame for the loss. He delivered a stellar performance, rushing for 205 yards and a touchdown on 12.1 yards per carry, while also throwing for 204 yards and two more scores on just 16 attempts. Luis Flores added two touchdowns of his own to keep the Eagles in striking distance.
On the other side, Medina Valley’s Xavier Gonzalez had another big night. He ran for 156 yards and a touchdown at 8.7 yards per carry, and through the air, he passed for 150 yards and a career-best three touchdowns.
The loss marks the second straight setback for Eagle Pass, moving their record to 2-2. Medina Valley, meanwhile, picked up their second straight win and now sit at 3-2.
Both teams now turn their focus to Laredo LBJ. The Panthers will host the Wolves on Friday at 7:00 p.m., while the Eagles will hit the road to face LBJ on October 9 at 7:00 p.m.
